FAQs

How can I prepare for my session?

It is best to eat something at least an hour before acupuncture. You don’t want to feel too full or hungry before our session.

To reach certain acupuncture points, I may ask you to undress. If that is the case, I provide sheets so you feel comfortable and are comfortably covered. You may also dress in loose-fitted clothing to prepare. My personal outfit for acupuncture is loose shorts and a tube top.

How will I feel after my treatment?

This depends on different factors, such as what we are working on and our general constitution. Some people may feel tranquil and a bit tired after treatments, while others feel energized and ready to take on the day.

This is a chance to listen to your body and ask it what it needs. If you have an AM appointment and a full day ahead of you, we recommend taking a light 2-5 minute walk outdoors or a quick stretch before settling into your day if you feel tired. Always make sure to hydrate after your appointments with tea, water, or mineral broths.

How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture is a healing practice originating from traditional Chinese medicine. It involves inserting very thin needles into specific points on the body. These points are believed to lie along pathways (called meridians) through which vital energy or Qi flows. By stimulating these points, acupuncture aims to:

  • Restore balanced flow of Qi (energy)

  • Improve blood circulation

  • Activate nerves, muscles, and connective tissue

  • Trigger the release of the body’s natural painkillers (such as endorphins)

  • Reduce inflammation

  • Support hormonal regulation

Modern medical research is increasingly exploring how acupuncture might affect measurable biological processes.

How many acupuncture appointments will I need?

Acute pain or conditions can usually be treated in 1-4 weekly sessions. For chronic conditions, consistent acupuncture is necessary to see long-term results.

Your specific treatment plan will be tailored to your needs, but we recommend weekly or biweekly acupuncture for the first 8 weeks. For cycle-related issues or fertility, we recommend weekly treatments for 3 months.

Do you accept HSA/FSA or insurance?

I accept FSA and HSA benefits cards and all other forms of payment, although I do not keep cash on hand.

I am currently out-of-network with your insurance company and am happy to provide you with a superbill to submit for reimbursement. Coverage varies with each policy and you will need to check with your insurance directly.
